赤竹坪水库址在霞葛五通村原赤竹坪自然村海拔496.6米处，系境内海拔最高的水库。

赤竹坪水库1972年12月动工，1978年2月建成。集雨面积3.3平方公里，库容185万立方米，灌溉面积2900亩。
